Great gift for anyone on your list who loves literature and appreciates the Island City, that small town smack dab in the middle of the teeming Bay Area. My faves are a memoir by Kelsey Goeres about joining Alameda's nonprofit Foodbank Players after she "had spent 10 years in Los Angeles writing and acting on stage and in front of the camera"; and "Conversations With a Dove," a poem by Al Simmons in which a human uses bird talk to great effect.
